Quezon Province is the Top Palay Producer in CALABARZON in 2021 Quezon was the top palay producing province in CALABARZON in 2021. It produced 203,083 metric tons of palay comprising 49.5 percent of the total regional output of 409,915 metric tons. Laguna was the second top palay producer in the region with 29.3 percent share (120,224 MT) followed by Batangas with 8.6 percent (35,354 MT). Cavite and Rizal contributed 6.8 percent (27,829 MT), and 5.7 percent (23,425 MT), respectively. Palay Production Quezon’s production slightly increased by 9.1 percent compared to its output in 2020 (186,179 metric tons). By ecosystem, palay production in irrigated farms was 127,357 metric tons. This figure was 8.0 percent higher compared to the 117,941 metric tons produced in 2020. Likewise, production in rainfed areas went up by 11.1 percent from 67,774 metric tons recorded in 2020 to 75,280 metric tons in 2021. On the other hand, the production in upland areas at 446 metric tons slightly decreased by 3.9 percent compared to the 464 metric tons produced in the previous year. Harvest Area The total harvest area of palay was estimated at 56,092 hectares. It went up by 5.2 percent from 53,331 hectares in 2020. In irrigated palay farms, harvest area increased by 7.9 percent from 30,458 hectares in 2020 to 32,855 hectares in 2021. Moreover, harvest area in rainfed palay posted a 1.6 percent increase from 22,486 hectares to 22,849 hectares. Harvest area in upland farms went up slightly by 0.3 percent from 387 hectares to 388 hectares in 2021.
