Number of Marriages… There were 9,396 registered marriages in Quezon for the year 2022 showing an increase of 37.0 percent from the previous year’s total of 6,857. On the average, about 26 marriages occurred per day in 2022. Marriages by Place of Occurrence… Lucena City (1,033 or 11.0 percent) had the highest number of registered marriages during the year. Jomalig recorded the least number of marriages with 13 or 0.1 percent. Marriages by Month of Occurrence… May was the most favored month to marry, with a total of 1,282 marriages. It registered the highest daily average of 41 marriages with an index of 158. April had the next highest number of marriages with 1,046, or a daily average of 35 and an index of 135. August recorded the least number of marriages with 433. Marriages by Type of Ceremony… The most number of marriages were solemnized under church ceremonies accounting for about 45.0 percent (4,230) of the total marriages in the province. Marriages solemnized under civil rites followed with 4,228 or 45.0 percent. There were 19 marriage events celebrated under Muslim rites equivalent to 0.2 percent. Marriages celebrated under other types of ceremonies comprised 9.8 percent (919). Marriages by Age Group of Groom and Bride… There was a similar trend among men and women when it comes to age at marriage. The highest recorded number of brides and grooms belonged to age group 25-29 years, with a total of 3,662 (39.0 percent) and 3,563 (37.9 percent), respectively. There were more teenage brides than grooms in 2022. Teen brides comprised 441 or 4.7 percent of the total marriages while teen grooms consisted of only 129 or 1.4 percent. Marriages by Previous Marital Status of Groom and Bride… Of the total marriages in 2022, majority were first timers or single brides and grooms prior to the marriage. The number of single brides (9,294) was higher compared to that of single grooms (9,262). Only a small percentage of brides and grooms were married, widow/ widower, divorced and annulled prior to the marriage. Marriages by Nationality of Groom and Bride… There were 131 marriages with foreign nationals that occurred in the province. The number of marriages with foreign nationals was higher for brides (93) than grooms (38).
