The headline inflation in Batangas accelerated to 3.8 percent in February 2022 from 2.7 percent in January 2022. With February 2022 inflation, Batangas average inflation from two months stood at 3.2 percent. In February 2021, inflation rate was lower at 3.6 percent. Faster annual increase were observed in the indices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 7.2 percent; health 7.2 percent and transport 10.5 percent. On the other hand, slowdowns were observed in the indices of the following commodity groups: A. Food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.1 percent B. Alcoholic and beverages and tobacco, 1.3 percent C. Clothing and Footwear, 1.0 percent D. Maintenance of the House, 2.6 percent E. Communication, 0.7 percent F. Education, 0 percent G. Recreation and Culture, 0.6 percent H. Restaurant and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 6.7 percent Inflation for food in Batangas decelerated to 0.0 percent in February 2022 from –0.4 percent in the previous month. In February 2021 food inflation was observed at 8.5 percent. Among food groups, annual decreases during the month were recorded in the following: A.Corn -3.5 percent B.Meat –3.3 percent C.Fish and Seafood –0.3 percent D.Milk, cheese and eggs –3.2 percent E.Fruits and Nuts –1.8 percent The rest of the food groups registered faster annual increases.
