Palay and corn production for January to March 2019 were lower than their 2018 levels by 32.32 percent and 76.93 percent, respectively. The negative growth were largely attributed to bad weather condition which produces more rice hull and insufficient water due to the onset of El Nino. Based on standing crop, probable palay production for April-June 2019 may exceed from the previous year’s level. In contrast, probable corn production may decrease the level of the same period last year.
