Rizal CPI Special Release May 2023 Provincial inflation between May 2022 and May 2023 is shown in this figure. This is the fourth consecutive month of deceleration in the province. Despite the decline, the inflation rate in May 2022 was still lower at 6.9 percent Rizal's inflation rate slowed to 7.6 percent in May 2023, from 7.7 percent in April 2023. In May 2022, the inflation was 6.9 percent lower. The main source of the upward trend of May 2023 inflation was the higher annual rates in the indices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 27.5 percent. In addition, food and nonalcoholic beverages and restaurant and accommodation services both account for 11.1 percent, while health with 10.9 percent, respectively. Also contributing to the uptrend in the overall inflation were the higher annual increases in the indices of the following commodity groups: a. Transport, 9.5 percent; b. Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 9.3 percent; c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 7.6 percent; d. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, 5.8 percent and; e. Recreation, sport and culture, 2.8 percent The price situation in Rizal increased by 0.6 index from 124.9 to 125.5 level on a month-to-month basis. A decrease in the Transport index of -0.8 from 141.9 to 141.1 was the main driver of this month’s deflation. Lower indices were also observed in Food and non-Alcohol beverages with 0.8, Clothing and footwear with 0.6, Personal Care, Miscellaneous Goods and Services with 0.5, Recreation Sport and Culture and Health both with 0.3, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance with 0.2 index difference. Information and Communication, Education Services, Restaurant and Accommodation services and Financial Services remain unchanged.
