Rizal CPI Special Release March 2023 Inflation rate in Rizal slowed down further to 8.8 percent in March 2023, from 9.4 percent in February 2023.In March 2022, inflation rate was lower at 5.4 percent. The main source of the upward trend of March 2023 inflation was the higher annual rates in the indices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, transport, food and non-alcoholic beverages and restaurant and accommodation services with 24.6,14.5, 12.7 and 11.8 percent, respectively. Also contributing to the uptrend in the overall inflation were the higher annual increases in the indices of the following commodity groups: a. Health, 10.7 percent; b. Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 9.1 percent; c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 7.4 percent; d. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, 5.9 percent; and e. Recreation, sport and culture, 3.5 percent Commodity Groups The price situation in Rizal declined by -0.2 index from 125.3 to 125.1 level on a month-to-month basis. A decline in inflation for this month was mainly attributed to Recreation, Sport and Culture, Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Transport, which each decreased from 116.3 to 114.6, 130.7 to 129.1 and 142.8 to 142.1 respectively. Lower indices were also observed in Personal Care, Miscellaneous Goods and Services with 0.9, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance and Health both with 0.4 index difference. Information and Communication, Education Services, Restaurant and Accommodation services and Financial Services remain unchanged.
