Inflation Rates in Rizal, All Items (2018 = 100) Inflation rate in Rizal slowed down to 9.4 percent in February 2023, from 9.7 percent in January 2023.In February 2022, inflation rate was lower at 4.5 percent. The main source of the upward trend of the February 2023 inflation was the higher annual rates in the indices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, transport, food and non-alcoholic beverages and restaurant and accommodation services with 24.2,18.0, 14.0 and 11.8 percent, respectively. Also contributing to the uptrend in the overall inflation were the higher annual increases in the indices of the following commodity groups: a. Health, 10.3 percent; b. Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 8.5 percent; c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 7.1 percent; d. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, 5.6 percent; and e. Recreation, sport and culture, 4.2 percent Table 2. Consumer Price Index of Commodity Groups in Rizal: (February 2023 and January 2023) Month – on – Month The price situation in Rizal declined by -0.5 index from 125.8 to 125.3 level on a month-to-month basis. A decline in inflation for this month was mainly attributed to Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Transport, which each decreased from 134.5 to 130.7 and 143.0 to 142.8 respectively. Lower inflation was also observed in Recreation, Sport and Culture, Housing, Water and Electricity and Health with 2.3, 2.1 and 2.0 index difference. Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance and Personal Care, Miscellaneous Goods and Services both had a 1.0 index difference.
