The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) actively participated in the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Serbisyo Caravan held on June 8, 2025, in Hong Kong. The event was spearheaded by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to bring essential government services closer to Filipinos working abroad.
The PSA delegation was composed of representatives from various units, including the PhilSys Registry Office (PRO), Civil Registry System (CRS), Expenditure Accounts Division (EAD), and Regional Statistical Services Offices (RSSOs) of Region 2 and CALABARZON (Region IV-A). Their participation underscored the agency’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration and responsive public service.
During the one-day caravan, the PSA provided three major services such as National ID registration, mobile issuance of civil registry documents, and conduct of a survey among overseas Filipino workers. These services were designed to ensure that OFWs are included in national programs on identity, data collection, and civil documentation regardless of their location.
Through the National ID registration, eligible OFWs were able to enroll in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), a foundational ID platform that promotes easier access to public and private services. Meanwhile, the mobile issuance of civil registry documents enabled participants to conveniently secure authenticated copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates, which are often needed for legal, employment and personal purposes abroad. Additionally, the survey of overseas Filipinos conducted by the PSA aimed to gather valuable data and insights into the lived experiences, needs and challenges of OFWs. These information will contribute to evidence-based policy development and help shape future programs tailored to the needs of Filipinos working and living in other countries.
The PSA’s participation in the caravan reflects the agency’s continuing commitment to delivering quality and accessible services to all Filipinos, wherever they may be in the world.
The OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Hong Kong forms part of the DMW’s ongoing initiative to empower and support overseas Filipinos through inter-agency collaboration and a whole-of-government approach.
