In line with the commitment of the agency to provide local level statistics, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office IV-A will compile, starting this year 2024, the Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSA) of the region.  The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC)-Technical Working Group (TWG) on the Compilation of CALABARZON Tourism Satellite Accounts chaired by RD Charito C. Armonia of PSA IV-A convened last 21 March to discuss the activities and timetable for the TSA.   RD Marites T. Castro of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Vice Chairperson of the TWG, expressed her commitment and support to the undertaking together with the representatives of the Provincial Tourism Offices of the five provinces of the region.  Since the DOT will be one of the data sources for the project, RD Castro mentioned that this endeavor is a good step towards the improvement of the system and coverage of data collection of the agency to answer the need for more tourism data.    Also, knowing how robust its contribution to the economic performance of the region, we can come up with better plans to expand the sector like providing more infrastructure to where it is needed, and more appropriate capability-building activities needed to improve our human resources.

It was also agreed that the Provincial Tourism Officers will help in gathering the needed data from their local counterparts at the cities and municipalities for the complete the compilation of the regional TSA.
