On October 11, 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Batangas, represented by the PhilSys team in Calaca City, actively participated in the 2024 Indigenous People's Month celebration and the 27th Indigenous People's Rights Act (IPRA) Commemoration. The City Government of Calaca, in collaboration with the Local Civil Registrar Office (LCRO) of Calaca City, organized a Family Day for the Aeta community, featuring fun games and the distribution of groceries as prizes.
During the event, the PhilSys team facilitated National ID registration and ePhilID issuance. A total of 27 individuals were successfully registered, 22 of whom were from indigenous communities. Additionally, 19 ePhilIDs were issued on-site, ensuring that more members of the community now have access to the benefits and services linked to the National ID system.
This collaboration between PSA Batangas, the LCRO of Calaca City, and the City Government of Calaca highlights the government’s continued efforts to ensure that marginalized and underserved communities, including indigenous peoples, are part of the National ID program. By making the registration process more accessible, the PhilSys initiative aims to enhance inclusivity, empowering Filipinos across the country to access essential public services.
The 2024 Indigenous People's Month and IPRA Commemoration underscore the government’s commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of indigenous peoples while fostering community engagement in national programs like PhilSys.
