Prices of commodities increased by 5.5 percent for June 2023

[Calamba City, Laguna] – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) CALABARZON hosted a successful press conference on 11 July 2023 to present the latest inflation results for the region. It commenced with a briefing on consumer price index presented by Statistical Specialist II Jan Irvin Mark A. Sison. This was followed by the presentation of Regional Director Charito C. Armonia on the results of June 2023 CALABARZON Regional Inflation. RD Armonia reported that prices of commodities in the region increased by 5.5 percent. The increase was lower than the increase in May which was recorded at 6.2 percent. Lower increase in prices for Food and non-alcoholic beverages commodity group compared to the previous months’ rate contributed to the deceleration in the overall inflation rate. In May, prices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 7.6 percent compared to 6.5 percent in June. Also, contributing to the decline were decreasing prices of Transport commodity group recorded at -0.7 percent which include fuel prices. The press conference served as a platform for PSA CALABARZON to unveil the inflation figures for June 2023. Attendees included members of the media and regional line agencies, all eager to gain a comprehensive understanding of the region's inflation situation.
