On September 6, 2024, the PhilSys team in Batangas City successfully registered Mr. Justin Caminong, a patient with cerebral palsy who is currently confined at Batangas Medical Center due to pneumonia, for the National ID. This initiative was made possible through the support of the hospital’s nursing service and the approval of the Office of the Medical Center Chief.
The registration was initiated by Mr. Caminong’s sister, Sheena Lopez, who reached out to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region IV-A for assistance. Mr. Caminong needed the National ID to fulfill the requirements for late birth registration, which is crucial for him to be qualified as a dependent under their mother's PhilHealth coverage.
Given Mr. Caminong’s condition and inability to make a personal appearance, the PhilSys team coordinated with hospital authorities to facilitate his registration. Thanks to the cooperation and assistance of the medical staff, Mr. Caminong was successfully enrolled in the National ID system despite his confinement.
This successful registration highlights PhilSys' commitment to making the National ID accessible to all Filipinos, including those with special needs and challenging circumstances. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) remains dedicated to providing inclusive services that enable every citizen to benefit from the National ID system, regardless of their situation.
The PhilSys team expresses its sincere gratitude to the Batangas Medical Center for their invaluable support and collaboration in this significant effort.
