The total inventory of Livestock and Poultry in the province of Rizal as of April 1, 2022 decreased by 11.67% from 2,860,190 heads in 1 st quarter of 2021 it went down to 2,526,334 in the same period of 2022, recording a difference of 333,856 heads. The inventory of swine during the first quarter of 2022 increased to 62,172 heads compared to 45,000 heads last year. This posted an increase of 38.16 percent. (Table 1) Specifically the backyard type inventory grew to 1,859 heads from 1,174 heads. Likewise, the commercial type also increased to 60,313 heads from 43,826 heads in the first quarter of 2021, which corresponds to an 37.62 percent increase. For the inventory of poultry during the first quarter of 2022, the native/improved type of chicken increased by 14.67% (from 25,190 heads to 28,886 heads). The broiler and layer types decreased by 10.06% and 15.09% respectively, as the broiler type went from 1,320,000 heads to 1,187,166 while the layer types recorded from 1,470,000 heads to 1,248,115. Thus, for the overall total inventory of the poultry, they decreased by 12.47%, that is from 2,815,190 heads to 2,464,167. (Table 1) Figure 1 shows that, the inventory of Layer chicken had the major share in the overall inventory of poultry contributing 51 percent while broiler and native shared only 48 percent and 1 percent, respectively.
