
Non-Food and Industrial Crops Production in 2022
The non-food and industrial crops (NFIC) production in the province increased by about 0.9 percent from 1,311,028.27 metric tons in 2021 to 1,322,495.35 metric tons in 2022.


Major Non-Food and Industrial Crops
The province produced a total of 1,321,664.78 metric tons of NFIC under major classification during the year. It increased by 0.9 percent from previous year’s level of 1,310,226.04 metric tons.
Of the major NFIC, coconut (with husk) accounted for 99.8 percent of the total production. The remaining 0.2 percent was composed of sugarcane (cane) for centrifugal sugar, coffee (green coffee beans) and abaca (dried raw fiber).

Coconut (with husk) production in 2022 was 1,318,966.76 metric tons. It rose by 0.9 percent from last year’s production of 1,306,999.59 metric tons. Of the total coconut production, matured coconut contributed the largest share of 99.8 percent or 1,316,617.94 metric tons while young coconut had only 0.2 percent share or 2,348.82 metric tons.
Increase in the production of abaca was recorded in 2022 with 2.58 metric tons. It was 17.3 percent higher compared to last year’s production of 2.20 metric tons.
The production of coffee (green coffee beans) increased by 10.3 percent, from 2021 level of 88.74 metric tons to 97.84 metric tons in 2022. Of the total coffee production, excelsa variety accounted for the largest share of 42.7 percent, equivalent to 41.75 metric tons. This was followed by Robusta with 38.4 percent share or 37.57 metric tons. Liberica variety accounted for the smallest share at 18.9 percent.
Sugarcane (cane) for centrifugal sugar production reached 2,597.60 metric tons, a decrement of 17.2 percent compared to the 3,135.51 metric tons produced a year ago.
Priority Non-Food and Industrial Crops
A total of 544.64 metric tons production of priority NFIC was registered in the province in 2022. It increased by 19.6 percent from previous output of 455.33 metric tons.

Almost half or 48.2 percent of the total production of priority NFIC came from coconut sap/tuba. It was followed by bromeliad (live plants with pot) with 41.9 percent share. Green corn stalk and cacao (dried beans with pulp) came next with 6.9 percent and 2.7 percent shares, respectively.
The least percentage share was recorded for palm fruit kaong (kernel) with only 0.3 percent.
Minor Non-Food and Industrial Crops
In 2022, the province had a total production of 131.95 metric tons of minor NFIC. This represented a 38.3 percent decrease from the previous year’s output of 213.90 metric tons.

Nipa sap/wine contributed the biggest share of 49.0 percent to the total minor NFIC production.
It was followed by Pili nut (dried nut with shell) with 15.4 percent share.
Laza/tambo (dried flower with stalk) and Coir (dried raw fiber) came next with 11.0 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively.
Orchids shared 6.9 percent to the total minor NFIC.
The remaining 8.6 percent share consisted of banana leaves and coconut leaves (dried).
Other Non-Food and Industrial Crops
The province recorded a total production of 153.98 metric tons of other NFIC. This was 15.8 percent higher compared to last year’s production of 133.00 metric tons.
Area Planted/Harvested for Non-Food and Industrial Crops in 2022
In 2022, the area planted/harvested for NFIC was recorded at 376,403.75 hectares. It increased by 431.50 hectares from previous year’s figure of 375,972.25 hectares.

The area planted/harvested for major NFIC reached 375,724.00 hectare in 2022, an increase of 406.00 hectares from previous years total of 375,318.00 hectares.
In 2022, the area planted/harvested for priority NFIC increased to 635.50 hectares, up by 25.50 hectares or 4.2 percent from 610.00 hectares during the previous year.
No changes were recorded in the area planted/harvested for both minor and other NFIC which remained at 22.00 hectares and 22.25 hectares, respectively.
Number of Bearing Trees/Hills/Vines for Non-Food and Industrial Crops in 2022
The number of bearing tress/hills/vines of non-food and industrial crops remained steady at 47,210,438.
