PRESS RELEASE Highlights of Batangas City 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) • The population of Batangas City as of 01 May 2020 is 351,437 based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH). This accounts for about 12.08 percent of Batangas population in 2020. • The 2020 population of Batangas City is higher by 21,563 from the population of 329,874 in 2015, and 45,830 more than the population of 305,607 in 2010. Moreover, it is higher by 103,849 compared with the population of 247,588 in 2000. (Table 1) • The population of Batangas City increased by 1.34 percent annually from 2015 to 2020. By comparison, the rate at which the population of the city/municipality grew from 2010 to 2015 was higher at 1.46 percent. (Table 2) • Among one-hundred five (105) barangays of Batangas City, Santa Rita Karsada had the biggest population in 2020 with 20,321 persons, followed by Alangilan with 15,669 persons, Cuta with 14,071 persons, and Santa Clara with 12,843 persons. (Table 3) • Sorosoro Ilaya was the fastest growing barangay in the city/municipality with an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 23.93 percent from 2015 to 2020. It was followed by Sorosoro Karsada with a PGR of 12.46, Barangay 15 (Pob.) with 9.92 percent, Dumantay with 5.02 percent, and Barangay 4 (Pob.) with 4.36 percent. Barangay 22 (Pob.) posted the lowest barangay PGR of -16.46. (Table 4) • Batangas City is composed of 105 barangays. • Among barangays of Batangas City, the largest in terms of population size is Santa Rita Karsada with 20,321 persons. It was followed by Alangilan with 15,669 persons, Cuta with 14,071 persons, Santa Clara with 12,843 persons, and Bolbok with 12,788 persons. (Table 5) • Barangay 22 (Pob.) has the smallest population with 94 persons, followed by Barangay 16 (Pob.) with 101 persons, Barangay 17 (Pob.) with 116 persons, Barangay 15 (Pob.) with 196 persons and Maapas with 202 persons. In the tenth place for least populous barangay is Barangay 18 (Pob.) with 328 persons. (Table 6)
