Number of Deaths… 
There were 1,106 registered deaths in Quezon in September 2023. It recorded a decrease of 12.2 percent from the previous month’s figure of 1,260. 
The daily average of death occurrences during the month was 37 or approximately two deaths per hour.

Deaths by Sex… 
There were more male deaths (656 or 59.3%) than female deaths (450 or 40.7%) registered during the month. 
The death sex ratio was calculated at 146 males for every 100 females in September 2023.

Deaths by Age-group… 
Majority of the death occurrences belonged to age group 60 and over with a total of 649. This comprised more than half or 58.7 percent of the total deaths recorded for the month. 
Age group 55-59 years old registered the next highest death toll which accounted for 99 or 9.0 percent.

Infant Deaths… 
Infant deaths totaled 53 or 4.8 percent of the total mortality.  
Infant deaths were higher for males (30) than females (23) giving an infant death sex ratio of 130 males for every 100 females.

Deaths by Place of Occurrence and Usual Place of Residence… 
Lucena City recorded the most number of deaths at 307 or 27.8 percent. This may be explained by its large population and the health facilities available in the city. 
The municipality of Candelaria (82 or 7.4%) came next in terms of highest number of death occurrences. It was followed by City of Tayabas (53 or 4.8%), and Gumaca and Lopez (both with 46 or 4.2%). 
There were 170 deaths that occurred outside the usual place of residence of the deceased. 
Lucena City recorded the highest number of deaths (144) that occurred outside the usual residence of the deceased. It was followed by Candelaria (12) and Infanta (5). 
Majority of the rest of the municipalities and city of the province registered higher number of deaths by usual residence than the number of deaths by place of occurrence.

Leading Causes of Deaths (8 days old & over)… 
There were 1,083 registered deaths among those aged 8 days and over.  
Of this total, 199 (18.4%) cases were due to diseases of the heart while  hypertensive diseases accounted for 152 or 14.0 percent.   
Pneumonia caused 89 (8.2%) deaths, cerebrovascular diseases caused 68 (6.3%) while diabetes mellitus caused 60 (5.5%) deaths.

Maternal Deaths… 
There was no maternal death recorded for the month of September 2023.
