PRICE SITUATION IN BATANGAS (2012=100) JANUARY 2021 The data presented here in were based on the results of the 2012-based Consumer Price Index Survey for all income households in Batangas for the month of January 2021 . YEAR-ON-YEAR The January 2021 Consumers Price Index (CPI) of Batangas was recorded at 129.2 with an index point change of 5.2 compared with the last year of the same month of 129.0. Among the items, Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained with the highest index point change of 41.2 . Positive index point change also registered in Food Non-Alcoholic Beverages; Clothing and Footwear; Furnishing Household and Equipment and Routine; Health; Education and Restaurant and Miscellaneous Services. On the other hand, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Other fuels; Transport; Recreation Culture showed negative index point change. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained to be the highest commodity having a CPI of 339.6 . Clothing and footwear group followed with a CPI 143.3 . Still, Communication group commodity have the lowest CPI of 103.3 . MONTH-ON-MONTH January 2021 recorded with the highest inflation rate for over a year with the inflation rate of 4.2. It accelerated by 20.0 percent compared to last month’s record of 3.5 . CPI BY Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained to be the highest commodity having a CPI of 339.6 . Clothing and footwear group followed with a CPI 143.3 . Still, Communication group commodity have the lowest CPI of 103.3. FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES In comparison last month, January 2021 Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages sub-sector recorded an increase of 3.3 index point change . Highest Index Point Change showed in Fruits commodity. Higher positive Index Point Changes can also be found for Meat, 7.2; Vegetables, 4.6; Corn,6.6 and Fish, 7.7. Slight Negative Index Point Changes however, can be seen in food items like Other Cereals, and Sugar, Jam, Honey Chocolate confectionaries NON FOOD Over all Non-Food price exhibited an increase of 1.5 index point change Items for Restaurant and Miscellaneous Goods Services, particularly for Catering services gained the highest index point change of 6.3 . Followed by Furnishing Household Textile Maintenance of the House (Household Textile, 4.8). Most of the items in this group reported no movement from December 2020 to January 2021. PURCHASING POWER OF PESO The Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) in Batangas for January 2021 was recorded at 0.77 centavos . This means that a market basket of goods and services worth one peso for this month of 2021 could be availed only at 0.77 centavos in 2012 .
