Cavite Building Construction: March 2023 (Prelimenary)

This special release provides data on approved building permits that covers all municipalities and cities for the construction of residential and non-residential structures, additions/repairs, renovation, and demolitions in the Province of Cavite that occurred during the month of March 2023. Data gathered from approved building permits of various local government offices of the province were generated for the purpose of calculating the national income accounts and estimating the level of construction activity. The total number of buildings constructed for the month of March 2023 was 1,106. Table 1 shows that among the 23 cities/municipalities, City of Gen. Trias had the most number of buildings built with 186. This was followed by Cities of Imus and Dasmariñas with 176 and 132 constructions, respectively. Also showed significant number of construction were City of Bacoor (129), Municipality of Tanza (87) and Municipality of Silang (69) constructions. The Municipality of Maragondon recorded the least buildings constructed for the month with only four (4) constructions. Municipalities of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and Magallanes also recorded fewer numbers of projects with 6 buildings constructed each. As shown in Table 1, City of Gen. Trias got the largest floor area with a total of 149,939 sq.m. This was followed by City of Bacoor with a floor area of 17,285 sq.m. and Trece Martires City with 16,281 sq.m. City of Gen. Trias also got the highest value with 2,818,082, followed by Municipality of Silang with a value of 264,404 and City of Bacoor with a value of 221,477. Table 2 shows that City of General Trias had the most residential construction with 87, followed by Cities of Dasmariñas and Imus with 86 and 68 constructions, respectively. Municipality of Maragondon and Naic had the least number with both 3 residential constructions. Eight (8) municipalities recorded less than 10 residential constructions. These were the municipalities of Carmona, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Indang, Kawit, Magallanes, Rosario, Ternate and Gen. Mariano Alvarez. City of Gen. Trias recorded the largest floor area with a total of 128,943 sq.m and 2,587,616 for Value in residential construction in the same month. Municipality of Ternate was the smallest area with 187 sq.m. and had a value of 1,000. City of General Trias also had the most number of non residential construction with 18, 16,674 sq.m. floor area, and 191,775 value. Municipality of Gen. E. Aguinaldo and Mendez-Nunez have no reported new construction for the month. Figure 1 shows the percentage distribution of the constructed residential and non- residential building in Cavite. Eighty two percent or 617 comprised the residential construction while the remaining 18% or 140 were from the non-residential construction. Table 3 shows that City of Imus had the most Addition Constructions with 83 followed by Cities of Gen. Trias and Bacoor with 74 and 35 respectively. The Municipality of Tanza and City of Dasmariñas also showed significant numbers with 29 and 22 newly constructed buildings, respectively. The Municipalities of Alfonso, Amadeo, Gen. E. Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez-Nunez, Rosario, Tagaytay City and Ternate have no reported new construction projects for the month of March. The City of Gen. Trias recorded the largest area with a total of 4,322 sq.m. for the Floor Area and 32,899 for Value in additional construction in the same month. This was followed by City of Imus with 2,823 sq.m. and value of 27,490 and City of Bacoor with 2,543 sq.m. and a value of 17,847. Table 4 shows the City of Bacoor reported the most Alterations and Repairs with 15 followed by the City of Dasmarinas with 11 and City of Imus with 9. Also, recorded with alteration and repairs construction were Municipality of Carmona and City of Gen. Trias with both 7 reports. The Municipalities of Alfonso, Gen. E. Aguinaldo, Indang, Magallanes, Maragondon, Naic, Rosario and Ternate have no recorded alteration and repair. City of Bacoor reported the highest value for construction on Alterations and Repairs with 13,598 followed by Trece Martires City and Tagaytay City with 6,930 and 6,497, respectively. Summary The total number of buildings under construction in the province for the month of March was 1,106 building, 82% or 617 of them were residential structures. The remaining 18% or 140 were non-residential building. City of Gen. Trias had the most buildings built with 186 buildings and got the most number of floor area with a total of 149,939 sq.m. and a value of 2,818,082. Municipality of Maragondon got the least number of building constructed with four (4) building and had a floor area of 502 sq.m. and a value of 5,088. For the addition of construction, City of Imus got the highest with 83 followed by City of Gen. Trias with 74 additions while Municipalities of Alfonso, Amadeo, Gen. Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez-Nunez, Rosario, Tagaytay City, and Ternate have no recorded addition City of Bacoor got the highest number for alteration and repair construction with 15. On the other hand, municipalities of Alfonso, Gen. E. Aguinaldo, Indang, Magallanes, Maragondon, Naic, Rosario, and Ternate have no recorded alterations. The combined floor area of all building types for March 2023 was 280,298 square meters, with a total investment of PhP 4,543,387.
