Agricultural output of CALABARZON grew faster by 2.0 percent in 2019 from a 0.8 percent growth in 2018. This was attributed to the increase in production of livestock, poultry and fisheries subsectors. Livestock value of production accelerated from 2.3 percent in 2018 to 3.3 percent in 2019. Likewise, poultry production expanded from 3.1 percent in 2018 to 6.4 percent in 2019. Fisheries production exhibited a turnaround performance from a decline of 5.8 percent in 2018 to 4.8 percent in 2019. On the other hand, crops production suffered reversal from 1.3 percent in 2018 to negative 7.9 percent in 2019. Figure 1. Chicken eggs, duck eggs, and chicken contributed to the subsector’s positive performance with respective growths of 11.9 percent, 5.7 percent and 3.7 percent. Only duck posted a decline in production by 2.4 percent.   Figure 2. Likewise, carabao value of production registered an increase of 4.2 percent. Conversely, goat and cattle production declined by 1.4 and 0.8 percent, respectively. The total gross value of livestock production at constant prices reached Php 54.4 billion.   Figure 3. Growth Rates of Livestock Production by Commodity, CALABARZON, 2018 to 2019, At Constant 2018 Prices, in Percent     The fisheries subsector which registered an increase of 4.8 percent in 2019 was contributed by the higher production of mussel, milkfish, tilapia, Indian mackerel, carp, mudcrab, squid, frigate tuna, seaweed, skipjack, grouper, roundscad, threadfin bream and p. vannamei. The subsector grossed PhP 29.2 billion at constant prices. *Volume of production for fisheries includes NCR Figure 4. The decline in the subsector’s output was contributed by the contraction in the production of chayote, coconut, calamansi, stringbeans, squash, eggplant, banana, lanzones, tomato, palay, pineapple, black pepper, corn, coffee, and sugarcane with the highest decline of 32.2 percent. Growth Rates of Crops Production by Commodity, CALABARZON, 2018 to 2019, At Constant 2018 Prices, in Percent     Among the subsectors, livestock accounted the largest share at 33.7 percent to the total agricultural output of CALABARZON. This was followed by poultry and crops subsectors with 28.4 percent share and 19.8 percent share, respectively. Fisheries subsector had the least share of 18.1 percent.   Figure 6. Share of Subsector to Total Agriculture, CALABARZON, 2018 to 2019, At Constant 2018 Prices, in Percent     In terms of contribution to 2.0 percent growth in 2019, poultry and livestock subsectors were the major contributors with 1.8 percentage points and 1.1 percentage points, respectively. Fisheries subsector contributed 0.8 percentage point while crops subsector pulled down the growth by 1.7 percentage points.   Figure 7. Cagayan Valley posted the fastest growth at 6.6 percent, followed by BARMM at 5.3 percent and Ilocos Region at 4.4 percent. CALABARZON ranked 6th at 2.0 percent. Meanwhile, declines in agricultural production were recorded in SOCCSKSARGEN at -4.8 percent, Caraga at -4.3 percent, Bicol Region at -3.5 percent, Central Visayas at -2.8 percent, Western Visayas at -2.6 percent, Davao Region at -2.0 percent, and Zamboanga Peninsula at -0.3 percent Figure 8.
