Statistics on building construction A construction permit or building permit is a permit required in most jurisdictions for new construction, or adding onto pre-existing structures, and in some cases for major renovations. Generally, the new construction must be inspected during construction and after completion to ensure compliance with national, regional, and local building codes. Failure to obtain a permit can result in significant fines and penalties, and even demolition of unauthorized construction if it cannot be made to meet code. Building Construction in Batangas Province · Building permit applications for the month of May 2019 summed up to 335. In comparison to the previous month where 582 applications were processed, the number of building permits decreased by 247. · Of the 335 total building permits, 283 residential, and 52 non-residential. These constructions occupied a total floor area of 65,636 sq. m. with a total value of Php 642.024M. · A value of Php 314.295M came from the residential constructions, while Php 327.728M came from the non-residential buildings. · For this month, San Jose submitted 32 building permits, the highest among all city/municipalities in the province. This was followed by Mabini with 28, Bauan and Taal with 20 permits respectively. · The least number of permits reported however, were from the municipalities of Laurel, Mataasnakahoy and San Nicolas with only 5 and Calatagan 3 while Talisay with 2. · The summary of data gathered from the province proves that Calaca contributed the highest in terms of building constructions having a total value of Php 119.281M. This was followed by Ibaan with a total value of Php 70.280M.
