SPECIAL RELEASE Statistics on Building Construction A construction permit or building permit is a permit required in most jurisdictions for new constructions, or adding onto pre-existing structures, and in some cases for major renovations. Generally, the new construction must be inspected during construction and after completion to ensure compliance with national, regional, and local building codes. Failure to obtain a permit can result in significant fines and penalties, and even demolition of unauthorized construction if it cannot be made to meet code. Building permit applications for the month of July 2022 summed up to 617. In comparison to the previous month where 537 applications were processed, the number of approved building permits increased by 80. Of the 617 total approved building permits, 435 residential, 151 non-residential and Alteration Repair 31. These constructions occupied a total floor area of 147 ,209 sq. m. with a total value of Php 1.603.023M. The summary of data gathered from the province proves that City of Lipa contributed the highest in terms of building constructions having a total value of Php 273.692M. This was followed by Batangas City with a total value of Php 165.944M. and San Pascual with a total value of Php 150.247M.
