Vital registration is a continuous process. Hence there is a need to specify certain cut-off period for purposes of reporting. The Birth Statistics in Quezon presented in this report contains highlights and summary of statistical tables of births that occurred on or before May 2019 and registered within the said month. Events that occurred in May 2019 but were not registered during the month were not included in this publication. For this report, Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2011 was used in data encoding. In the generation of DVSS tables however, CSPro 7.1 was utilized. Live births… A total of 4,823 live births were registered in the province in May 2019. It recorded an increase of 21.0 percent from the April figure of 3,987. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 156. Of the total births registered, 50.6 percent were males and 49.4 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 102 males for every 100 females. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,319 or 27.3 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Candelaria with a total of 278 or 5.8 percent. The least number of registered birth was observed in the municipality of Plaridel with one (1) or 0.02 percent. Attendant at Birth... The 3,291 (68.2 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 1,508 or 31.3 percent of the total. Eight municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals. The municipality of San Andres (85.7 percent) topped the list of areas with high percentage of birth deliveries attended to by non-health professionals. It was followed by the municipalities of San Francisco, San Narciso, Panukulan and Buenavista with 85.0 percent, 79.9 percent, 68.6 percent and 64.2 percent, respectively. Place of Occurrence and Usual Residence of Mother… Majority of the registered births were born to mothers whose usual residence is in Quezon province (4,741 or 98.3 percent). BIRTH STATISTICS IN QUEZON: January 2024 (Preliminary Results)

A total of 3,685 live births were registered in the province in January 2024. It recorded an increase of 8.5 percent from the December 2023 figure of 3,397.
