The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) successfully turned over the data from the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the local government of Jomalig, Quezon. Jomalig was among the LGUs who joined the CBMS roll-out in 2022. The ceremonial activity was held today, November 9, 2023 at Queen Margarette Hotel, Lucena City. This noteworthy event was made possible and realized as a result of the collaborative efforts of the PSA and the local government of Jomalig and constituents.
Attending officials included the following: Municipal Mayor of Jomalig Honorable Nelmar T. Sarmiento, Vice Mayor Charito A. Manlangit and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator EnP. Sheryl Cabrera, RSSO 4A Regional Director Charito C. Armonia, and Chief Statistical Specialist Airene A. Pucyutan. Also in attendance were Provincial Planning and Development Coordination Office PDO IV Monina Talaga, Department Heads of Jomalig and other PSA and LGU personnel.
There were 1,829 responding households with a total of 6,975 individuals covered in the CBMS. Senior Statistical Specialist Margarita G. Cada presented the highlights of the results from the Household and Barangay Profile Questionnaire which included the basic services such as electricity, internet, water, toilet facilities, safety, food insecurity, and disaster preparedness, among others. The LGU can now use the data derived from the CBMS for program planning and policy formulation, according to SrSS Cada.
Mayor Sarmiento, in his acceptance message, expressed his gratitude to the PSA for funding the municipality of Jomalig in the conduct of CBMS. He acknowledged the collective efforts of the partner agencies for the successful conduct of the 2022 CBMS. He shared that the set of data gathered from CBMS is the only comprehensive local data that they have and assured that they will be utilized in their development plans and programs.
