The number of marriages for the month of April 2023 registered a total of 676. This showed a decrease of 42 percent from 1,165 marriages in April 2022. On average, 22 marriages a day occurred in April 2023. Among the cities/municipalities in Laguna, the City of Calamba had the highest recorded number of marriages with 92 couples. It comprised of 13.6 percent of the total marriages. It was followed by the City of Santa Rosa with 75 (11.1 percent) and City of San Pedro with 67 (9.9 percent) marriages, respectively. Figure 1. Number of Registered Marriages by City/Municipality in Laguna: April 2023 On the other hand, the municipalities of Rizal and Santa Maria were both recorded the least with only 4 (0.6 percent) marriages.    By type of ceremony, marriages solemnized under Civil Rites showed the largest proportion with 341 or 50.4 percent of the total marriages in Laguna. Ranked second was marriages under Other         Religious Rites with 185 or 27.4 percent followed by marriages solemnized under Roman Catholic with 150 or 22.2 percent. However, none were officiated under Muslim and Tribal rites. Figure 2. Number of Registered Marriages by Type of Ceremony in Laguna: April 2023   In ordinary marriage, or a marriage requiring a marriage license, the time for submission of the Certificate of Marriage to the concerned Local Civil Registry Office is within fifteen (15) days following the solemnization of marriage while in marriages exempt from license requirement, the prescribed period is thirty (30) days. A report beyond the reglementary period is considered late. Figure 3 shows that most of the marriages in April 2023 were timely registered with 663 or 98 percent.   Most marriage rites in April 2023 were officiated in the Office of the Mayor, Judge, etc. with 337 marriages or 49.9 percent of the total followed by church weddings with 248 marriages or 36.7 percent.
