Number of Marriages… There were 788 marriages registered in Quezon in December 2022. It recorded an increase of 72.1 percent from the previous month’s total of 458. The daily average of registered marriages during the month was 25, higher than the recorded daily average of 15 in November 2022. Marriages by Place of Occurrence… Sariaya (125 or 15.9 percent) had the highest number of registered marriages, followed by Lucena City (100 or 12.7 percent) and Candelaria (65 or 8.2 percent). Tiaong (45 or 5.7 percent) and Lucban (41 or 5.2 percent) recorded the next highest registered marriages. Around 61.0 percent of the 41 municipalities/cities in the province registered less than 10 marriage occurrences during the month. There was no registered marriage event in the island municipalities of Jomalig, Panukulan and Perez. Marriages by Type of Ceremony… The most number of registered marriages was solemnized under church rites, with 439 or 55.7 percent. Marriages performed under civil rites totaled 238 accounting for 30.2 percent of the total registered marriages. Marriages celebrated under other types of ceremonies comprised 14.1 percent. Marriages by Age Group of Groom and Bride… The highest recorded number of brides and grooms belonged to age group 25-29 years, with 329 (41.8 percent) and 302 (38.3 percent), respectively. There were thirty-one (31) teen brides and six (6) teen grooms in December. Marriages by Previous Marital Status of Groom and Bride… Almost all of the couples were first timers or single brides (779) and grooms (778) prior to the marriage. Only a small percentage of brides and grooms were married, widow/ widower, divorced and annulled prior to the marriage. Marriages by Nationality of Groom and Bride… About 98.7 percent of the grooms and 99.4 percent of the brides were Filipinos in the registered marriages in December. Intermarriages between Filipino brides and grooms of foreign descent were with American, British, Indonesian and Nigerian. Intermarriages between Filipino grooms and brides of foreign descent were with Australian, Chinese and Dominican.
