Live births… A total of 4,304 live births were registered in the province in August 2022. It recorded an increase of 12 percent from the July figure of 3,844. Of the total births registered, 51.8 percent were males and 48.2 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 108 males for every 100 females. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 139. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,180 or 27.4 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Candelaria with a total of 310 or 7.2 percent, Lopez with 308 or 7.2 percent, Sariaya with 243 or 5.6 percent and Gumaca with 219 or 5.1 percent. The top 5 municipalities with the least number of registered births were San Antonio with 10 or 0.23 percent, Perez with 8 or 0.19 percent, Pitogo with 7 or 0.16 percent, Quezon with 3 or 0.07 percent and Plaridel with 1 or 0.02 percent. Attendant at Birth... The 3,232 (75.1 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. Among the medically trained personnel, physicians attended to the most number of deliveries with 1,938 or 45.0 percent of the total births registered. The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 1,072 or 24.9 percent of the total. By residence of mother, four municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals. These are the municipalities of San Francisco (81.6 percent), San Narciso (68.4 percent), Patnanungan (65.8 percent) and Panukulan (52.5 percent). Age-group of mother… Seven in ten births were born to mothers aged 20-34 (3,055 or 71.0 percent). The number of births born to teenage mothers was 486 or 11.3 percent. A total of 23 births or 0.5 percent were born to mothers at the menopausal age (45 years old and over).
A total of 3,685 live births were registered in the province in January 2024. It recorded an increase of 8.5 percent from the December 2023 figure of 3,397.
This special release presents gender statistics on vital events such as birth, marriage and death for the 1st Semestral 2024 in the Province of Cavite.
