Quezon Province is the Second Top Palay Producer in CALABARZON for the Second Quarter of 2020   Quezon was the  second  top palay producing province in CALABARZON in the  second  quarter of 2020. It produced  56,576 metric tons of palay comprising 44.0 percent of the total regional output  of 135,248  metric tons. Laguna  was the top palay producer in the region  with 44.5 percent share (60,145  MT).  Cavite  shared  4.3  percent  (5,829  MT).  Meanwhile,  Batangas  and  Rizal  both contributed 3.6 % with 4,862 metric tons and 4,836 metric tons, respectively.    Palay Production   Quezon produced 59,576 metric tons of palay in the second quarter of 2020, an increase of 33.1 percent compared to the same quarter in 2019 (44,771 metric tons). By ecosystem, palay production in  irrigated farms was  37,737  metric tons. This figure was 23.2 percent higher compared to the 30,623 metric tons produced in the same quarter of 2019. Likewise, production in rainfed areas went up by 54.4 percent from 14,063 metric tons recorded in the second quarter of 2019 to 21,720 metric tons in the same period of 2020. Production in upland farms also rose  by 40.0 percent from 85 metric tons posted in the last quarter of 2019 to 119 metric tons produced in the same cropping season of 2020.   Quezon Province is the Top Corn Producer in CALABARZON for the Second Quarter of 2020   Quezon produced 7,682 metric tons of corn during the second quarter of 2020. It remains as the top producer of corn in CALABARZON region  accounting for  80.5  percent of the region’s total production of  9,545  metric tons.  Laguna  followed  with 997  metric tons (10.4%), then  Batangas with 458 metric tons (4.8%). Rizal contributed 374 metric tons (3.9%) while Cavite has the least share of 34 metric tons (0.4%).
