SPECIAL RELEASE VITAL STATISTICS MAY 2021 The data presented herein are based on the documents submitted by the local civil registrars of the province and consists of timely and delayed registrations received during the month. Birth…. For May 2021 the total number of registered births in Batangas was 3,291. It was higher by 7.44 percent compared to last year of the month’s record of 3,063. This number includes timely and delayed births registered during the month. Marriage…. The aggregate number of registered marriage events for May 2021 was 1,265. There was an extremely increased of 1,173 total number of marriage. Death…. There were 2,276 deaths registered for the month of May 2021. Death figures moved up by 47.89 percent compared to the same month last year with 1,539 deaths. Total population of Live Births... 3,291 was the total registered live births in Batangas with a daily average of 106 live births. Lipa City had the highest number of registered live births with 606. Followed by Batangas City with 425 live births and Lemery at third ranked with the registered births of 305. These top three cities comprised 40.60 percent of the total registered live births in Batangas where most hospitals and health care facilities were located. In contrast, the municipality of Mataas na Kahoy got the lowest registered birth with only one live birth. Many of the municipalities/ cities in Batangas have a daily average of one birth only. Live Birth by Sex… More than half of the total registered live births were males with 1,687 or 51.26 percent while the remaining 48.74 percent were females with 1,604. This came to a birth sex ratio of 105 males for every 95 females. About 52.94 percent of the cities/municipalities in the province reported a sex ratio of more than 100 while the remaining 47.06 percent had a sex ratio of less than 100. Live Birth Attendants… Most of the mothers gave birth through medical attendants. About 87.48 percent delivered their babies with assistance from medical staff (physician, nurse, and midwife). Differently, the 12.52 percent were delivered by non-medical attendants (hilot, other birth attendants). A slight decrease was recorded in May 2021 born to married parents from 67 percent to 47 percent in May 2021. Meanwhile, registered live births born out of wedlock increased by 20 percent compared to the same month last year. Registered Marriages… The total number of marriage occurrences for May 2021 was 1,265. City of Lipa had the most number of couples who undergone the process of nuptiality with a total number 169. While Batangas City ranked second with 133 nuptial events and followed by Rosario with 97 number of marriages. On the other hand, Tingloy had the least number of marriages at 4. Marriages by Type of Ceremony… Most of the weddings were solemnized under the Roman Catholic rites with a total of 792 or 62.61 percent of the total recorded marriages in the province. Furthermore, about 347 or 27.43 percent couples chooses to took their vows on civil rites. The remaining 9.96 percent or 126 listed marriages were solemnized under other religious rites ceremony. Registered Deaths by Sex... The over all registered death occurrences for May 2021 were 2,276.of which consisted by 55.32 percent or 1,259 were males and the remaining 44.68 percent or 1,017 were females. This means that more males were registered to have succumbed to death than females, resulting to death sex ratio of 124. Batangas CIty had the most registered number of death cases with a total of 387 deaths followed by Lipa City with 312 while Tingloy had the least registered death with 8 death cases reported. Attendants and Civil Status at Deaths… From the total registered deaths in Batangas, death events or 56.98 percent were attended by health professionals (private physician, public health officer and hospital authority) while 43.02 percent or 979 were not attended by any health professional. About 49.16 percent of recorded deaths were married, 22.32 percent were single, 28.16 percent were widow/widower, 0.18 percent was divorced while four persons or 0.18 percent civil status deaths were not determined.
