PSA QUEZON UNDERTAKES PROVINCIAL LEVEL TRAINING FOR 2024 CENSUS OF POPULATION (POPCEN) AND COMMUNITY-BASED MONITORING SYSTEM (CBMS)
Lucena City | PSA Quezon conducted a provincial-level training for 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System last June 17-22, 2024 at Queen Margarette Hotel, Downtown. PSO Airene A. Pucyutan, SSS Normita D. Pagkatipunan, SrSS Margarita G. Cada Provincial CBMS Focal Person, SS II Paul P. Dalwampo Provincial Mapping Focal Person, SS II Ma. Del Z. Rozales, ISA-I Rey Khalid A. Susada and SS I Arjhay Llave from Central Office were the trainers during the said training.
The goal of the 6-day intensive training was to prepare the participants for the accurate data collection, and geotagging of households and institutions. Selected PSA Quezon employees, 59 hired Census Area Supervisors and 17 Team Supervisors were among the participants. They served as trainers in the municipal level training and will handle the supervision of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS operations in the cities/ municipalities in Quezon province.
The training equipped PSA Quezon personnel and hired field supervisors with fundamental concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools required for efficient data collection. A deeper understanding of the critical role that data play in local development was also given emphasis during the training.
PSA RSSO 4A Regional Director Charito C. Armonia, in her message, encouraged the dedication of everyone for the successful conduct of POPCEN-CBMS. She emphasized the significance of timely and accurate data in developing responsive projects and programs that are suited to the basic needs of the community.
In general, mainstreaming social protection programs, bolstering health-related initiatives, assisting micro, small, and medium-sized businesses and improving the effectiveness of public service delivery will all be made possible by the local-level data that 2024 POPCEN- CBMS will provide.

PSA QUEZON CONDUCTS THE 2023 HOUSEHOLD ENERGY CONSUMPTION SURVEY (HECS)
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Quezon Provincial Statistical Office conducted the 2023 Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS). This nationwide undertaking was a joint statistical activity by the PSA and the Department of Energy that aims to generate comprehensive and reliable information on household energy consumption, practices, and preferences. The survey was also a major component of the Comprehensive Regional Energy Study project.
The 2023 HECS specifically seeks to determine the sources of energy consumption, information on the fuel/energy mix of the household sector based on its energy consumption, most energy-consuming and energy-efficient appliances and equipment used, information on cooking fuel switching, the current energy efficiency and conservation techniques, awareness and attitude on major energy issues and programs in the energy sector; and information on the energy use of vehicles for transportation.
This survey was set to interview about 390 sample households in the province of Quezon and 248 sample households in the city of Lucena. Field enumeration runs from June 17 to July 16, 2024, and utilized computer-aided personal interviewing system. Authorized PSA hired data collectors visited the sample households and conducted the personal interview.
PSA-Quezon encouraged sample households to support the conduct of the 2023 HECS through their utmost cooperation and by providing truthful information.

FISHERIES PRODUCTION IN QUEZON DECREASES IN 2023
The total volume of fisheries production in Quezon Province during the year was estimated at 52,178.61 metric tons. It decreased by 16.4 percent from the 62,419.11 metric tons reported in 2022. This was brought about by the decrease in the output from aquaculture (-39.0%) and municipal fisheries (-31.8%). Meanwhile, production from commercial fisheries went up by 73.8 percent.
Aquaculture fisheries production for 2023 decreased from 32,314.86 metrics tons to 19,711.70 metric tons. The drop in the total aquaculture production was mainly attributed to the decrement in the production of Milkfish, Mudcrab, and Penaeus vannamei by 6,145.69 MT, 3,883.43 MT, and 1,119.70 MT, respectively. These were caught in brackishwater fishpond.
Municipal fisheries production was registered at 12,835.65 metric tons in 2023, which was lower by 5,973.16 MT compared to the previous year’s output of 18,808.81 metric tons. Of this total volume of production, marine municipal fisheries accounted for 99.8 percent while the rest were caught from inland bodies of water.
Production for commercial fisheries was posted at 19,631.26 metric tons, an increment of 73.8 percent compared to the 11,295.44 metric tons reported in 2022. The top five species that contributed to the increase in the total production of this subsector were Bali sardinella or Tamban (1,580.87 MT), Threadfin bream or Bisugo (1,243.65 MT), Yellowfin tuna or Tambakol/Bariles (772.15 MT), Skipjack or Gulyasan (676.18 MT), and Big-eyed scad or Matangbaka (601.66 MT).

PSA QUEZON PHILSYS TEAM VISITS BJMP
The Philippine Statistics Authority Quezon Provincial Statistical Office conducted mobile acceptance of applications for civil registry documents and PhilSys Registration for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in coordination with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. This is in line with their celebration of Community Relations Service Month, which is bannered with the theme, "Nagkakaisang Kawanihan at Pamayanan tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas".
The PSA is committed to bring the various services of the office closer to the people such as mobile registration and issuance of ePhillD and verification of PhillD card status. ISA-I Aurin, informed the staffs and PDLs of the importance and benefits of PhilSys Registration. He also demonstrated the downloading of Digital National ID. BJMP personnel were taught on how to access everify.gov.ph website to verify the identity of the PhillD card holder and also check the authenticity of the National ID. Any of the three authorized formats of the National ID (physical PhilID card, ePhilID and digital National ID) is considered as a valid proof of identity and must be honored in any transactions in the government and private entities.
