  SPECIAL RELEASE Birth Statistics A total of 11,102 birth events were registered by the local civil registrars of Batangas for the first quarter of the year.  There were 4,656 births registered in the month of January, 3,985 in February and 2,461 in March. For the first quarter, Batangas City with 2,219 registered births had recorded the most number of births in the province of Batangas.  Other city/municipality with high number of registered births were Lipa City 1,913 , Balayan 856 and Rosario 746 . Meanwhile, there were no recorded birth in the month of February and March in the municipality of San Nicolas.  Thus, San Nicolas reported the least number of births for the first quarter with 1 registered birth in the month of January. More males (5,753 or 51.8% ) were born than females (5,349 or 48.2%) which resulted in a sex ratio of 108 males to 100 females. Marriage Statistics Most of the marriage rites occurred in Lipa City with 506 (12.7%) registered marriages in the first quarter. Batangas City  ranked second with 425 (10.7%),  followed by Calaca in third with 256 (6.4%) and Nasugbu 246 (6.2%).   The least number of marriages was recorded in the municipality of Agoncillo  with a count of 13   marriages. Type of Ceremony Most marriages (66.0%) in the first quarter were officiated in Roman Catholic churches. Others were either performed through civil rites ( 27.0% ) or in other religious rites (7.0%). Death Statistics The registered death occurrences for the quarter decreased by 403 compared to last year quarter with 4,788 deaths. In terms of the highest number of death cases, the leading city is Batangas City with a total of 1,223 deaths followed by Lipa City (576). Conversely, Balete and Sta. Teresita had the least registered death cases with 18 and 19 registered deaths. The daily average of registered deaths in the quarter was estimated to 48 deaths.  From the total registered deaths in Batangas, 66.6 percent (2,920) were attended by health professionals (private physician, public health officer and hospital authority) while 33.4 percent (1,465) were attended by non-health professionals. Distribution of Deaths by Sex From that total, 57.1% were estimated for males and the remaining 42.9% were estimated for females. This means that more males were registered to have succumbed to death than females, thus resulting to a sex ratio of 132.9 males per 100 females.
