

Headline Inflation
The Batangas Province headline or overall inflation retained the 1.3 inflation rate in two consecutive months. This brings the provincial average from January to July 2025 to 1.5 percent. In July 2024, the inflation rate was higher at 3.5 percent. (Table 1 and Figure 1)
On the other hand, Region IV-A CALABARZON also maintained the inflation rate at 1.8 percent in July 2025. In CALABARZON, the Province of Cavite ranked first with the highest inflation rate at 2.3 percent in July 2025. It was followed by the province of Quezon with 1.9 percent, Laguna with 1.8 percent, and Rizal with 1.7 percent. The Province of Batangas has the lowest inflation rate among the provinces at 1.3 percent.
Moreover, the Philippines’ overall inflation slowed down further to 0.9 percent in July 2025 from 1.4 percent in June 2025. In July 2024, the inflation rate was higher at 4.4 percent (Table 1).
The top three commodity groups contributing to the July 2025 overall inflation of 1.3 percent were the following:
a. Food and non-alcoholic beverages with 40.5 percent share or 0.53 percentage point
b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels with 19.0 percent share or 0.25 percentage point
c. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco with 14.6 percent share or 0.19 percentage points

Food Inflation
Batangas’ food inflation slowed to 1.4 percent in July 2025 from 2.2 percent in the previous month. In July 2024, food inflation was higher at 4.3 percent. (Table 3)
The deceleration of food inflation in July 2025 was mainly caused by the faster year-on-year decrease in meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, which fell to 13.8 percent from 14.6 percent in the previous month. Additionally, fruits and nuts contributed to the decrease, with a rate of 12.4 percent compared to 14.1 percent in the previous month.
Food inflation shared 32.9 percent or 0.43 percentage points to the overall inflation in July 2025. The top three food groups in terms of contribution to the food inflation during the month were the following:
a. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals with a share of 228.8 percent or 3.20 percentage point
b. Oils and fats with a share of 70.1 percent or 0.98 percentage point
c. Fruits and nuts with a share of 33.7 percent or 0.47 percentage point
