Quezon Province is the Top Corn Producer in CALABARZON for the Third Quarter of 2021 Quezon produced 13,266 metric tons of corn during the third quarter of 2021. It remains as the top producer of corn in CALABARZON region accounting for 58.1 percent of the region’s total production of 22,843 metric tons. Batangas followed with 7,361 metric tons (32.2%), then Laguna with 971 metric tons (4.3%). Cavite contributed 764 metric tons (3.3%) while Rizal had the least share of 481 metric tons (2.1%). Corn Production Corn production in Quezon decreased by 31.8 percent from 19,454 metric tons produced in the 3rd quarter of 2020 to 13,266 metric tons in the same period in 2021. By crop type, white corn production was at 2,979 metric tons. This figure was 6.9 percent lower than the production in the same quarter of 2020 at 3,199 metric tons. Likewise, the production of yellow corn at 10,287 metric tons was down by 36.7 percent compared to the 16,255 metric tons produced in the third quarter of 2020. Area Harvested The area harvested for corn in Quezon during the third quarter of 2021 was estimated at 4,916 hectares. This was 11.1 percent lower than the recorded 5,527 hectares during the same quarter of 2020.
