Number of Marriages… A total of 1,014 marriages were registered in Quezon in January 2020. It recorded an increase of 37.8 percent from the previous month’s total of 736. The daily average of registered marriages during the month was 33, higher than the recorded daily average of 24 in December 2019. Marriages by Place of Occurrence… Sariaya (144 or 14.2 percent) had the highest number of registered marriages. It was followed by Lucena City (113 or 11.1 percent). Tiaong (80 or 7.9 percent), Candelaria (79 or 7.8 percent) and City of Tayabas (46 or 4.5 percent) recorded the next highest registered marriages. Around 34.1 percent of the 41 municipalities/cities in the province registered less than 10 marriage occurrences during the month. There was no marriage event recorded in the island municipality of Panukulan. Marriages by Type of Ceremony… The most number of registered marriages were solemnized under church rites, with 645 or 63.6 percent. Marriages performed under civil ceremonies totaled 273 accounting for 26.9 percent of the total registered marriages. There were four (4) marriage events celebrated under Muslim rites equivalent to 0.4 percent. Marriages celebrated under other types of ceremonies comprised 9.1 percent.
