PRESS RELEASE: PSA Quezon Starts the Updating of List of Aquaculture Farms in the Province

PSA undertakes another important statistical activity towards the improvement of aquaculture surveys in the country by updating the list of aquafarms. The conduct of the 2023 Updating of List of Aquaculture Farms (ULAF) aims to provide a reliable and timely sampling frame for aquaculture surveys of PSA. The data collection will be undertaken from 10 July 2023 to 12 August 2023. The 2023 ULAF operation in the province involves the listing of aquafarms. Aquafarms that are currently in operation or temporarily closed will be geotagged and data from them will be collected. In Quezon province, twenty-one (21) hired statistical researchers will conduct the data collection in all cities and municipalities of the province using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application and GIS mobile application (QField App). Data items to be collected in the listing activity are the name and location of aquafarm, name and residence of operators/hired managers, and characteristics of aquaculture farm such as legal form of organization, type of aquafarm, water environment, culture system, management system, area of aquafarm, volume of fish tank, fish cage, fish pen; and type of species cultured in the aquafarm. In line with this, Provincial Statistics Officer Airene A. Pucyutan of PSA Quezon enjoins all the aquaculture farm operators to participate in the survey and provide the required information to the authorized PSA interviewers who will visit the aquaculture farm. She also ensures that all data collected from this survey will be treated with strict confidentiality as stipulated in Section 26 of the Republic Act No. 10625.
