Mr. Mark Gabriel L. Casareo from lnter-Global College Foundation lnc. Lucena City bagged the first prize in the 2022 Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination held on Oclober 27, 2022, al the Activity Center of Pacific Mall, Lucena City. Thirty three (33) young whizzes from different colleges and universities in Quezon joined the quiz. PSQ is an annual competition designed for colledge freshmen enrolled in any private or public colledge or university in the Philippines. The objectives of the PSQ are: to assess the competency and skills of students in statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum; to promote, enhance , and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of science, statistics in particular, among the students, and; to generate public awareness on the important uses of statistics in all development-planning activities and win overall support for all government statistical activities. The young whizzes battled it out in 3 nerve-racking rounds. The first and second rounds of the contest proper are in written format, the contestant garnering 8 points and above will proceed to the third round. The score at the end of Round 3 of the contest determined the rank of the contestants. coming in second to Mark Gabriel was Lemuel D. Marca from Souther nLuzon State University (SLSU) Main Campus. The thired place went to Mark Aaron A. Sobreviñas from Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena and the fourth place to Keala Jader from the college of Science, Technology and Communications, Inc. in Sariaya, Quezon landed on the fifth place.
