This translates to a labor force participation rate (LFPR) of 60.6 percent, which means that about 606 out of the 1,000 population aged 15 years and over were either employed or unemployed. It registered a decrease of 3.3 percentage points compared to the LFPR in July 2020 and October 2019, both posted at 63.9 percent. Employment rate increased by 1.4 percent Employment rate (ER) in October 2020 slightly rose to 89.0 percent from 87.6 percent in July 2020. Compared to the ER of 94.2 percent in October 2019, it is lower by 5.2 percentage points. It translates to 6.0 million employed persons in October 2020 from 6.2 million in October 2019. It recovered as compared to the third quarter unemployment rate which was 12.4 percent. However, as compared to the unemployment rate of 5.8 percent in the same quarter of 2019, it is higher by 5.2 percentage points. Figure 3. This number represented 12.5 percent of the total employed persons in the region which is significant improvement as compared to the rates during the previous two (2) quarter. Note: Underemployed persons are those who were employed but still express their desire to have additional hours of work in their present job or to have an additional job, or have a new job with longer working hours.
