Birth Statistics: January 2019 Quezon (Preliminary Results)

Vital registration is a continuous process. Hence there is a need to specify certain cut-off period for purposes of reporting. The Birth Statistics in Quezon presented in this report contains highlights and summary of statistical tables of births that occurred on or before January 2019 and registered within the said month. Events that occurred in January 2019 but were not registered during the month were not included in this publication. For this report, Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2011 was used in data encoding. In the generation of DVSS tables however, CSPro 7.1 was utilized. Live births… A total of 4,185 live births were registered in the province in January 2019. It recorded an increase of 22.8 percent from the December 2018 figure of 3,407. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 135. Of the total births registered, 50.8 percent were males and 49.2 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 103 males for every 100 females. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,190 or 28.4 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Lopez with a total of 304 or 7.3 percent. There was no registered live birth in the municipalities of Plaridel and Pitogo. Attendant at Birth... The 3,384 (80.9 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. Among the medically trained personnel, physicians attended to the most number of deliveries with 2,112 or 50.5 percent of the total births registered. Place of Occurrence and Usual Residence of Mother… Majority of the registered births were born to mothers whose usual residence is in Quezon province (4,081 or 97.5 percent). A total of 4,303 live births were registered in the province in October 2023. It recorded a decrease of 0.7 percent from the September 2023 figure of 4,335.
