Quezon Province is the Top Corn Producer in CALABARZON in 2023 
Quezon produced 33,267.00 metric tons of corn in 2023. It remains as the top producer of corn in CALABARZON region accounting for 60.5 percent of the region’s total production of 54,966.52 metric tons. Batangas followed with 13,914.45 metric tons (25.3%), then Laguna with 5,553.15 metric tons (10.1%). Rizal contributed 1,296.08 metric tons (2.4%) while Cavite had the least share of 935.84 metric tons (1.7%).

Corn Production 
Corn production in Quezon decreased by 12.0 percent from 37,818.00 metric tons produced in 2022.

By crop type, white corn production was at 6,632.00 metric tons. This figure was 16.3 percent lower than the production in 2022 at 7,921.00 metric tons. Likewise, the production of yellow corn at 26,635.00 metric tons was down by 10.9 percent compared to the 29,897.00 metric tons produced in 2022.    

Harvest Area 
The area harvested for corn in Quezon in 2023 was estimated at 12,614.00 hectares. This was 15.6 percent lower than the recorded 14,948.00 hectares in 2022.

By crop type, the harvest area for white corn in 2023 declined by 15.4 percent from 6,244.00 in 2022 to 5,282.00 in 2023. Likewise, the harvest area for yellow corn went down by 15.8 percent during the reference year.

Yield per Hectare 
The average yield of corn in Quezon for 2023 was 2.64 metric tons per hectare. This was 4.2 percent higher than the posted 2.53 metric tons average yield in 2022.

By crop type, the yield of white corn was estimated at 1.26 metric tons per hectare. It went down by 1.0 percent from the 1.27 metric tons per hectare reported in 2022. However, the average yield of yellow corn increased by 5.8 percent, from 3.43 metric tons to 3.63 metric tons per hectare during the reference year.
