Commercial Fisheries Commercial Fisheries output for the 4th quarter of 2021 expanded by 10.59 percent. The growth could be attributed to additional number of fishing boats unloading coming from the provinces of Quezon, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan. Fish Landing Canters with increment production were San Piro, Balayan, Calatagan and Mabini. It contributed 3.4 percent in the total fisheries of the province. Municipal Fisheries The combined production of marine and inland municipal fisheries for the fourth quarter of 2021 marked a 6.60 percent increased from a 1,550.26 metric tons in the fourth quarter last year rose to 1,652.60 metric tons this year. Abundance appearance of anchovies (Dilis),Big-eyed scad (matangbaka), Indo Pacific Macherel (hasa-hasa) and Porgies (Pargo) and Mullet (Kapak) in the municipal waters of Batangas pulled the production up. Municipal fisheries added 7.71 percent in the total fisheries in this quarter. Aquaculture Fisheries The Aquaculture sector similarly recorded positive growth this quarter at 14.29 percent. During the period, all aquaculture species, except Milkfish and Seaweeds, exhibited increasing trends. Aquaculture accounted for 88.89 percent of total fisheries production in Batangas. Among the aqua farm types, freshwater cage contributed the largest production volume because of increased produce of Tilapia due high survivability of fish brought about by the good quality of fingerlings stocks.
