The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Quezon Provincial Statistical Office is currently conducting the 2023 Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS). This nationwide undertaking is a joint statistical activity by the PSA and the Department of Energy that aims to generate comprehensive and reliable information on household energy consumption, practices, and preferences. The survey is also a major component of the Comprehensive Regional Energy Study project.

The 2023 HECS specifically seeks to determine the sources of energy consumption, information on the fuel/energy mix of the household sector based on its energy consumption, most energy-consuming and energy-efficient appliances and equipment used, information on cooking fuel switching, information on the current energy efficiency and conservation techniques, awareness and attitude on major energy issues and programs in the energy sector; and information on the energy use of vehicles for transportation.

Further, the following are the major data items to be collected by this survey: household characteristics, housing characteristics, household income, energy sources and details, household practices and attitudes on the use of energy sources, and awareness on energy issues.

This survey is set to interview about 390 sample households in the province of Quezon and 248 sample households in the city of Lucena. Field enumeration runs from June 17 to July 16, 2024, and utilizes a computer-aided personal interviewing system. Only authorized PSA hired data collectors will visit the sample households to conduct the personal interview.

PSA-Quezon encourages sample households to support the conduct of the 2023 HECS through their utmost cooperation and by providing truthful information.
