The inflation rate for the bottom 30% income households in Quezon province slowed down to 1.6 percent in June 2025, from 2.6 percent in May 2025. This brings the average inflation rate for this income group from January to June 2025 to 3.9 percent. In June 2024, the inflation rate was higher at 7.0 percent.

The downtrend in inflation for the bottom 30% income households was primarily influenced by the lower annual increase in the index of the heavily weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages at 1.4 percent in June 2025 from 3.1 percent in the previous month. Similarly, the index of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels recorded a lower annual increase of -1.0 percent during the month, compared to 1.2 percent in May 2025.

In contrast, higher annual growth rates were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month: 
a. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 6.5 percent, from 5.8 percent; 
b. Clothing and footwear at 1.2 percent, from 1.0 percent; 
c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 2.4 percent, from 2.3 percent; 
d. Transport at -2.3 percent, from -3.1 percent; 
e. Information and communication at 1.5 percent, from 1.4 percent; 
f. Recreation, sport and culture at 1.6 percent, from 1.3 percent; 
g. Education services at 4.9 percent, from 3.5 percent; 
h. Restaurants and accommodation services at 5.7 percent, from 5.2 percent; and 
i. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services at 2.6 percent, from 2.3 percent.

Meanwhile, the indices of the following commodity groups retained their previous month’s annual rates:

a. Health at 1.2 percent; and 
b. Financial services at 0.0 percent.

 

Food inflation for the bottom 30% income households in Quezon province slowed to   1.3 percent in June 2025, from 3.1 percent in May 2025. In June 2024, food inflation was higher at 12.3 percent.

The deceleration in food inflation was mainly due to the lower annual growth rate in the index of vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, which declined    to -7.0 percent during the month, from 3.9 percent in May 2025. The slower year-on-year increase in the index of fish and other seafood, which was recorded at 3.9 percent in June 2025, down from 8.4 percent in the previous month, also contributed to the downtrend.

Further, lower inflation rates were also recorded in the following food groups during the month: 
a. Rice at -11.0 percent, from -9.6 percent; 
b. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals at 14.3 percent, from 14.5 percent; 
c. Milk, other dairy products and eggs at 9.6 percent, from 10.8 percent; 
d. Oils and fats at 61.8 percent, from 64.1 percent; and 
e. Sugar, confectionery and desserts at -4.5 percent, from -4.3 percent.

In contrast, higher annual growth rates were observed in the following food groups: 
a. Corn at 8.0 percent, from -1.6 percent; 
b. Flour, bread and other bakery products, pasta products, and other cereals at 1.6 percent, from 1.3 percent; 
c. Fruits and nuts at 21.8 percent, from 15.2 percent; and 
d. Ready-made food and other food products not elsewhere classified at 1.9 percent, from 1.7 percent.
