The headline inflation or overall inflation in Quezon Province decreased to 3.4 percent in March 2025, from 4.3 percent in February 2025. However, inflation in March 2025 was higher compared to March 2024, which was recorded at 2.3 percent.

The decline in overall inflation in March 2025 was primarily driven by the slower annual increase in the food and non-alcoholic beverages index, which settled at 6.6 percent during the month, down from 9.2 percent in February 2025.

Moreover, the following commodity groups also contributed to the downtrend during the month: 
a. Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels at 0.9 percent, from 1.0 percent; and 
b. Transport at -2.7 percent, from -1.5 percent.

In contrast, the following commodity groups registered higher inflation rates during the month: 
a. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 4.0 percent, from 2.9 percent; 
b. Clothing and footwear at 1.1 percent, from 0.9 percent; 
c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 2.0 percent, from 1.5 percent; 
d. Health at 0.8 percent, from 0.4 percent; 
e. Information and communication at 0.7 percent, from 0.6 percent; 
f. Recreation, sport and culture at 0.7 percent, from 0.5 percent; 
g. Restaurants and accommodation services at 3.8 percent, from 2.7 percent; and 
h. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services at 1.9 percent, from 1.0 percent.

Meanwhile, the following commodity groups retained their annual rates from the previous month: 
a. Education services at 3.0 percent; and 
b. Financial services at 0.0 percent;

Food inflation in Quezon Province further decreased to 7.0 percent in March 2025, from 9.8 percent in February 2025. In March 2024, food inflation was lower at 4.0 percent.

The slowdown in food inflation in March 2025 was primarily due to the lower year-on-year increase in the rice index, which dropped to 2.8 percent from 12.3 percent in the previous month.

In addition, the following food groups registered slower annual growth rates during the month: 
a. Corn at 25.0 percent, from 36.8 percent; 
b. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals at 12.6 percent, from 15.3 percent; 
c. Fruits and nuts at 9.0 percent, from 10.9 percent; 
d. Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses at 7.1 percent, from 10.5 percent; and 
e. Sugar, confectionery and desserts at -1.3 percent, from 0.4 percent.

On the contrary, higher annual growth rates during the month were observed in the indices of the following food groups: 
a. Flour, bread and other bakery products, pasta products, and other cereals at 1.1 percent, from 0.8 percent; 
b. Fish and other seafood at 9.4 percent, from 7.3 percent; 
c. Milk, other dairy products and eggs at 9.2 percent, from 8.9 percent; 
d. Oils and fats at 15.8 percent, from 14.7 percent; and 
e. Ready-made food and other food products not elsewhere classified at 1.3 percent, from 1.0 percent.
