CPI by commodity group, Year-on-Year Alcoholic beverages and tobacco showed the highest CPI (274.1 index points) among the commodity groups. The group of education followed with 125.7 index points. Transport registered the least CPI of 101.2 index points followed by communication with 102.6 index points. All commodity groups recorded price index increments. Inflation Rate, Year-on-Year Average inflation rate (IR) in Quezon decreased by 4.2 percentage points from 5.9 percent in 2018 to 1.7 percent in 2019. The highest IR noted in 2019 was in the months of January and December, both at 3.3 percent. In 2018 however, the highest IR recorded was in the month of September (7.6 percent). Purchasing power of peso… The purchasing power of peso (PPP) in the province was recorded at an average of 82 centavos in 2019. The figure decreased by two centavos from last year’s figure. The PPP implies that goods and services worth one peso in 2019 can be availed at only 82 centavos during the same period in year 2012.
