SPECIAL RELEASE CONSTRUCTION STATISTICS FROM APPROVED BUILDING PERMITS IN QUEZON: 2021 (PRELIMINARY RESULTS)

NUMBER OF APPROVED BUILDING PERMITS A total of 4,967 private building constructions based on approved building permits were reported in the province for the year 2021. This number marked an increase of 37.9 percent compared to the 3,602 approved building permits recorded in 2020. Lucena City had the highest number of approved building permits with 1,008 or 20.3 percent followed by City of Tayabas with 775 or 15.6 percent. Lucban came next with 488 (9.8 percent) approved building permits followed by Candelaria with 383 or 7.7 percent. Residential building constructions recorded a total of 4,127 comprising 83.1 percent of the total approved building constructions in the province during the year. This reflected an increase of 33.6 percent from the previous year’s 3,089 residential constructions. On the other hand, the total non-residential building constructions recorded a share of 690 (13.9 percent), higher by 53.0 percent from the previous year’s 451 non-residential constructions. Approved applications for additions, with a total of 150 increased by 141.9 percent from last year’s figure of 62. Alterations and repairs of existing structures with a total of 192 increased by 14.3 percent from 168 applications recorded on a year-on-year basis. VALUE OF CONSTRUCTION The total value of constructions during the reference year reached PhP 9.33 billion, indicating an increase of 78.4 percent from PhP 5.23 billion recorded in 2020. The average cost of construction in the province was computed at PhP 11,003 per square meter, excluding the value of alterations and repairs, demolitions and street furnitures. By type, residential constructions accounted for the biggest value with PhP 4.83 billion or 51.8 percent of the total value of constructions in the province. Of this amount, PhP 3.82 billion went to single type residential units accounting for 79.0 percent of the total value of residential construction. The average cost of residential construction per square meter was computed at PhP 12,092. Non-residential building constructions on the other hand, was valued at PhP 4.36 billion comprising 46.7 percent of the total value of constructions. The average cost of non-residential building constructions in the province was calculated at PhP 9,999 per square meter. Furthermore, the value of constructions classified as additions reached PhP 134.41 million or 1.4 percent.
