In a significant move towards improving government services for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region IV-A and the Department of Migrant Worker (DMW) Region IV-A have joined forces to establish a PhilSys Registration Booth at the One Stop Service Center for Overseas Filipino Workers (OSSCO) in Calamba City, Laguna.   On August 31, 2023, PSA RSSO IV-A Registration Officer Juliedin B. Nohay, together with PSA Laguna Assistant Statistician Lorelie Danila held a meeting with DMW Regional Director Karen M. Quilao to discuss the role of each office in putting up of PhilSys Registration Booth at the OSSCO, which will commence on September 4, 2023.   The integration of the PhilSys Registration Booth at the center is a significant milestone in this endeavor, as it allows OFWs to conveniently register for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), also known as the National ID, while accessing other essential services.   The PhilSys, a flagship program of the PSA, aims to provide Filipinos with a single identification system that streamlines transactions with government agencies and financial institutions. It also ensures the efficient delivery of social services and benefits to all citizens, including OFWs who contribute significantly to the country’s economy through their remittances.   The collaboration between the PSA and the DMW underscores the government’s commitment to improving services for OFWs and ensuring that they have access to the benefits and privileges that come with the PhilSys National ID. This partnership is a step forward in empowering Filipino migrant workers and simplifying their interactions with the government, ultimately enhancing their over-all well-being and financial security.     (SGD.)
