WHAT IS CRASM? Certificate of Registration of Authority to Solemnize Marriage (CRASM) is a certificate issued to a Solemnizing Officer (SO) certifying the registration of his/her authority to solemnize marriage after complying with the requirements.   This certificate indicates that the SO is authorized to solemnize marriages under his territorial jurisdiction within the period specified.    The CRASM shall be valid for a period of three years and shall expire on the thirty-first day of December of every third year and shall be renewed within the last quarter of the expiration year.   The effectivity date of the authority to solemnize marriage shall be indicated in the CRASM.     CRASM APPLICATIONS RECEIVED   Figure 1 shows the number of CRASM Applications received by PSA Regional Statistical Services Office 4A from July to December 2022 with a total of 1,102 applications.   The figure shows that more applications were received during the fourth quarter of the year with a total of 914 applications. Out of 914, 206 are new and 708 are for renewal.   On the other hand, during the third quarter of the year, RSSO 4A received 188 applications wherein 114 were new applications and 74 were for renewal.    Figure 1. Total Number of CRASM Applications Received for CALABARZON: 3rd and 4th Quarter of 2022   The renewal of the CRASM is scheduled every third year and shall be renewed within the last quarter of the expiration year. Thus, the number of CRASM applications received by RSSO 4A during the last quarter of the year increased by about 386% compared to the previous quarter.      Figure 2 shows the comparison of the total number of New Applications against Applications for Renewal.    The figure shows that for the period of July to December, there are more renewal applications than new applications for CRASM.   Figure 2. Total Number of CRASM Applications Received New vs. Renewal (July to December 2022)   During the last six months of 2022, RSSO 4A received 320 new applications or 29 percent and 782 applications for renewal which is 71 percent of the total.   Figure 3 shows the number of CRASM applications received per month for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2022. It shows that RSSO 4A received the highest number of applications during the month of November with 328 CRASM applications received from the Provincial Offices. On the other hand, the lowest number of CRASM applications received was recorded during the month of  August with only 54 applications.    Figure 3. Total Number of CRASM Applications for CALABARZON Received per Month (3rd and 4th Quarter)   Figure 3 also shows the sudden increase in the number of CRASM applications received on the first month of the fourth quarter. This is because the renewal of CRASM applications is scheduled on the last quarter of the year.   Figure 4 shows the number of CRASM applications received from the Provinces of CALABARZON. As shown in the figure, majority of the applications received were from the Province of Cavite which is 33% of the total, followed by Rizal with 21%, Batangas and Laguna with 17%, and lastly, the Province of Quezon with 12%.   Figure 4.
