VITAL EVENTS Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Decade (2015-2024) April-June 2019 Birth Statistics A total of 13,741 birth events were registered by the local civil registrars of Batangas for the first quarter of the year. There were 5,332 births registered in the month of January, 4,021 in February and 4,388 in March. For the first quarter, Lipa City with 2,278 registered births had recorded the most number of births in the province of Batangas. Other city/municipality with high number of registered births were Batangas City 2,145, Lemery 1,401 and City of Tanauan 1,331. Meanwhile, there were sudden decreased in birth registration in the municipality of Balete in the quarter with 15 birth registration against 45 registered birth recorded in the same quarter of 2018. Thus, Balete reported the least number of births for the first quarter. Marriages in Batangas The number of registered marriages for the quarter of 2019 (Jan– March) is 4,798 which is 0.69 percent higher than last year’s first quarter which is 4,765. Most of the marriage rites occurred in Lipa City with 623 cases or 12.98 percent of the total. Batangas City ranked second in terms of the highest number of marriage reported with 440 cases followed by Calaca with 335. The least number of marriages for the quarter was recorded in the municipality of Tingloy with eleven (11) registered marriages. Death Statistics A total of 4,788 registered deaths were reported for the first quarter. Among cities/municipalities of the province, the highest number of deaths was recorded in Batangas City with 1,241 or 25.92 percent of the total deaths. It was followed by Lipa City with 643 deaths (13.43%) and Tanauan City with 288 (6.02%), which ranked second and third, respectively. On the other hand, the lowest number of registered deaths were recorded in Alitagtag and Balete with 17 and 16 deaths respectively. More than half of the total deaths were males which accounted for 57.73 percent.
