Special Release: CALABARZON's Inflation at 3.5 percent in January 2020

Inflation in the region for January 2020 was measured at 3.5 percent, highest since March 2019. This is 0.8 percent index points lower than the recorded inflation rate in the same month of 2019 at 4.3 percent. In the opposite manner, this month’s inflation is 2.5 percent index points higher than the lowest inflation posted in September 2019 at 1.0 percent.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the changes in the price level of goods and services that most people buy for their day-to-day consumption. It is most widely used in the calculation of the inflation rate and purchasing power of the peso. The CPI series, among others, is being used for economic analysis, collective bargaining agreements, wage adjustments, and monitoring the effects of government economic policy.
