Situationer Report on Palay & Corn, 1st Quarter 2019, Rizal

Palay and corn production for January to March 2019 were lower than their 2018 levels by 32.32 percent and 76.93 percent, respectively. The negative growth were largely attributed to bad weather condition which produces more rice hull and insufficient water due to the onset of El Nino.

Based on standing crop, probable palay production for April-June 2019 may exceed from the previous year’s level. In contrast, probable corn production may decrease the level of the same period last year.

Situationer Report on Palay & Corn, 4th Quarter 2018, Rizal

Palay production exhibited a decline of 13.15 percent for October to December 2018. In contrast, corn grew by 280.91 percent from its levels in 2017. On the other hand, palay annual output was lesser by 25.75 percent while corn annual output surpassed the 2017 output by 4.71 percent.

Forecasts on standing crop of palay indicate lower production in the first quarter of 2019. This may bring about a decline in outputs by 4.69 percent. Similarly, probable production of corn crop may incur negative growth of 16.00 percent.
