Batangas Agricultural Situation Report: November 2019

Around 6.0 tons of squash was harvested in the municipalities of Bauan, San Pascual and Bauan.
In Mataas na Kahoy, some Banana, saba variety was affected by anthracnose. Other farmers did not harvest their plants as no buyer was reported due to poor quality of the fruits.
In the town of Rosario, about 6.0 tons of Mandarin was harvested with a farmgate price of P15.00-20.00 per kilogram.
Still in Rosario, yellowing of smaller size of pomelo resulted to falling of immature fruits.
Balagtasin Farmer’s Association of the municipality of San Luis was newly accredited supplier of Jollibee Food Corporation.

Batangas Agricultural Situation Report: October 2019

In the municipalities of Bauan, San Pascual and San Luis, harvesting of squash and cassava started. Meanwhile other plants were still on the vegetables and maturing stage
In Barangay Locloc, Bauan, about 400 kilograms of atis was harvested at P35.00 per kilograms. In addition, in the barangays of Tabangao and Pinamucan in Batangas City, an estimated 150 tons of the same crop was harvested and priced at P20.00. Produced were brought at Divisoria and Batangas markets.
About nine hectares of yellow corn was harvested in Batangas City with a production of 45.0 tons.
In the town of San Luis, the PINAKA Contest (Best Kalabasa) was held last October 28, 2019. This was held during the town’s Farmers Day celebration. This event showcased/exhibited and marketed also vegetables like ampalaya, stringbeans, patola and also bagoong products.
In barangay Tumaway, Talisay, about 3,500 pieces of banana, saba was harvested with the farm gate price ranged of P1.50 to P1.75 per piece.


Palay and Corn Situation Report

Quezon was the top palay producing province in CALABARZON in the fourth quarter of 2018. It produced 58,333 metric tons of palay comprising 38.0 percent of the total regional output of 153,400 metric tons. Laguna came next with 27.4 percent share (41,978 MT) followed by Batangas with 15.6 percent share (23,920 MT). Cavite, and Rizal shared 9.8 percent (15,090 MT), and 9.2 percent (14,079 MT), respectively.
